Meet The Baker

The hands, heart and soul behind Sourdough Rising, a sourdough-focused micro bakery in Batesville, Indiana, where tradition, intention, and community come together through real bread.

I specialize in naturally leavened, long-fermented sourdough made with freshly milled whole grains and I am passionate about bringing real, nourishing bread back to the heart of the table!

I also specialize in traditional laminated pastry technique.

My baking journey began as a way to care for my family … specifically after of my son’s diagnosis with a rare ocular disease. That experience led me to prioritize quality and nutrition in our food, starting with something as foundational as bread. Over time, that simple shift sparked a deep passion for traditional baking and a desire to share it with others.

To support that mission, I built a dedicated bakery space on our property where I bake for local families and teach a variety of hands-on classes.

In addition to beginner-friendly sourdough workshops, I also offer classes on freshly milled flour and a variety of other yeasted bread-making techniques. These hands-on classes are designed to make sourdough and bread baking accessible, empowering and deeply rewarding!

My goal is to help people build confidence in the kitchen, feel more self-sufficient and foster a meaningful connection to the food they create - for themselves and their families.

At the heart of my teaching is this belief: anyone can learn to bake beautiful, nutritious bread with the right knowledge and a few basic tools.
